Travel MedicineAmericans take more than one billion trips every year and travel is the second biggest industry in the country behind health care. But, for many people, the two biggest industries don’t mix well. According to one estimate, one in five travelers gets sick on a trip. This program examines the need to plan ahead for medical needs, even on a trip within the U.S. How to get medical attention, particularly the right treatment, when you’re away from home is explained. Common travel troubles such as diarrhea, drinking local water, and poorly cooked foods are covered, as are the special concerns for traveling overseas, including differences in drugs between the U.S. and foreign countries.
